Overview
Frederick “Ricky” Hearn is a member of Gunster’s Private Wealth Services group, focusing his practice on probate and trust litigation. Ricky approaches each case as an opportunity to solve a problem for his client. He relies on his experience and knowledge of the law to develop creative, personally tailored strategies that help clients achieve their goals at every stage of a matter, from early negotiated settlement through taking a case to trial. Many of Ricky’s clients have never experienced the legal system before and have often been thrust into litigation during an emotional time after the passing of a loved one. In recognition of that fact, Ricky is sensitive to each client’s personal needs and strives to provide practical advice his clients can use to make informed decisions about their case.
Ricky is an active member of the Real Property, Probate, and Trust Law Section of The Florida Bar. He serves on the Section’s executive council and is a co-vice chair of the Section’s Trust Law and Legislation Committees. Ricky is also a past member of The Florida Bar Probate Rules Committee, where he served as a subcommittee chair. Ricky has given numerous continuing legal education presentations on topics such as recent case law, non-contested trust litigation, and Florida’s electronic wills statutes.
Ricky’s experience is not limited to the practice of law. Prior to attending law school, Ricky worked in the financial services industry for several years. After law school, Ricky worked in the real estate department at a large telecommunications company before beginning his current estate and trust litigation practice.
Outside of work Ricky enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children, scuba diving, paddleboarding, and attending various concerts and sporting events.
