Gunster's John Moran was recently featured in the Spring-Summer 2025 issue of ActionLine in a tribute written by Jane L. Cornett of Becker & Poliakoff, celebrating his tenure as 2024–25 Chair of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of The Florida Bar.
Reflecting on his year as Chair, John shared that he discovered an unexpected talent for hosting and hospitality—particularly in planning Section meetings with unique events and surprises for members. He also found a creative outlet in writing the Chair's Column for ActionLine.
John credited his predecessors—including Immediate Past Chair Katherine Frazier—and the seasoned leaders in the "Back Row" for preparing him to meet the demands of the role. His advice to future chairs: "Don't be afraid to make it your own and to let the things you do reflect your interests and personality." For newer Section members, he encouraged volunteering early, following through on commitments, and even bringing your family along to experience what he calls the "RPPTL Effect."
Congratulations to John on a wonderful and memorable year of leadership. Now it's time for him to take his well-earned seat in the Back Row and watch as RPPTL continues to evolve.
John's involvement with the Section began early in his career when colleagues Bill Hennessey and Mike Simon introduced him to Section service, eventually leading to leadership roles on the Trust Law Committee and a five-year stint as Chair of the Probate Law and Procedure Committee.
