WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (March 3, 2014) – Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, is pleased to announce that Fabienne Fahnestock, an attorney in its Fort Lauderdale office, joins the 2014 boards of directors for Coast-to-Coast Legal Aid of South Florida and Legal Aid Service of Broward County. She was sworn in on January 29 by Ilona Holmes, circuit court judge for the 17th judicial district.
Fabienne Fahnestock is a shareholder who joined Gunster in 2002. In the past year, she was honored as a Rising Star by the Daily Business Review, received the Sun Sentinel’s People on the Move award, and was profiled in the South Florida Legal Guide’s Top Lawyers of 2013.
Coast-to-Coast Legal Aid of South Florida and Legal Aid Service of Broward County serve low-income children, families, the elderly, and veterans of Broward County through advocacy, education, representation and empowerment. Services provided by the organizations include:
- Children’s advocacy project, providing legal counsel to you in danger of entering or who have entered the juvenile justice system.
- Foreclosure prevention and advocacy project
- Broward Lawyers Care, a pro bono program allowing busy attorneys to make a difference in their community in the areas of children’s advocacy, family law, housing, public benefits, real property, consumer law, bankruptcy, immigration, tax controversies and more. BLC manages the administrative issues so the attorney’s time is spent directly on the client’s legal needs.
Joining Fahnestock as new 2014 board members are Tobi Leibowitz, an attorney with Stearns Weaver Miller Weissler Alhadeff & Sitterson, P.A.; and Brian Lerner, an attorney with Kim Vaughan Lerner LLP. Michael Lockwood was also sworn in as the chair of the 2014 boards.

Fahnestock focuses her law practice on complex commercial litigation, estate and trust litigation, and appellate law. She was certified by the Florida Supreme Court as a civil circuit mediator in 2013.
