Overview
Iara Dircie is a Business Litigation associate in the Miami office. Iara focuses her practice on complex commercial disputes with a practical, relationship-focused approach. Drawing on her international background, native Spanish fluency, and business education, Iara is especially attuned to matters involving cross-border interests, international stakeholders, and sophisticated business concerns. She works to understand not only the legal issues presented, but also the underlying business pressures and interpersonal dynamics that often shape a dispute.
Iara joined Gunster after graduating from the University of Miami School of Law cum laude, where she received a Dean’s Merit Scholarship and served as both a Junior Staff Editor and Staff Editor on the University of Miami Law Review. She also participated in the International Moot Court Program, competing in a mediation competition in Paris in 2026 and an arbitration competition in Madrid in 2025. These experiences strengthened her ability to evaluate disputes through legal, cultural, and commercial lenses.
During law school, Iara served as president of the University of Miami Student Bar Association, where she helped create the school’s inaugural Family Weekend, attended the American Bar Association conference, and acted as a student voice on the University of Miami Law Alumni Association. Before law school, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science cum laude, a Bachelor of Science in Business Management cum laude, and a Master of International Business from the University of Florida. She also worked professionally in the nonprofit sector and in management roles, including positions with Aldi and Del Monte Fresh, where she worked with international vendors.
Iara also interned for U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Laurel Isicoff in 2024, where she observed the practical impact of complex financial disputes in the courtroom. Known for strong interpersonal skills, curiosity, and creative problem-solving, Iara helps clients and colleagues identify issues that may not be apparent on the surface and develop thoughtful strategies to move matters forward with clarity and confidence.
