Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, today announced that respected tax scholar and practitioner Gregg D. Polsky has joined the firm as Of Counsel. Polsky brings a rare combination of technical mastery, real-world law firm experience and firsthand insight into the Internal Revenue Service, further strengthening Gunster’s tax capabilities.

Polsky advises clients on complex, high-stakes tax matters, helping them identify and manage risk, navigate regulatory complexity and resolve disputes. His practice spans corporate and partnership taxation, choice-of-entity planning, executive and equity compensation, private equity and investment fund taxation, tax issues arising in divorce, and the taxation of litigation settlements and recoveries.

Polsky’s perspective is shaped by more than 25 years teaching federal income tax law at leading law schools, his service as professor in residence at the IRS Office of chief counsel, and his experience as a practicing tax lawyer. This unique background allows him to anticipate audit positions, assess litigation risk and structure defensible transactions and planning strategies.

“Gregg’s depth of knowledge and unparalleled understanding of how tax law is interpreted and enforced make him an extraordinary asset to our clients,” said Adi Rappoport, co-leader of Gunster's Tax practice. “His arrival reflects Gunster’s continued commitment to providing sophisticated, practical solutions for clients facing complex tax challenges.”

Since 2024, Polsky has served as a professor of practice in New York University School of Law’s top-ranked graduate tax program, where he teaches a range of advanced tax courses. Previously, he was a tenured law professor at several institutions, including the University of Georgia, the University of North Carolina and Florida State University.

A respected authority in his field, Polsky has written extensively for leading academic law reviews, professional tax publications and bar journals. He is frequently quoted in national media, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times and USA Today, and is a regular speaker at law school conferences and continuing legal education programs nationwide.

Polsky is a fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel, a peer-elected organization recognizing exceptional achievement and dedication to the practice of tax law.
