Gunster, one of Florida's oldest and largest full-service business law firms, is proud to announce that attorney Elinette Ruiz-Diaz de la Portilla has been appointed to the Board of Trustees of Miami City Ballet (MCB), one of America's premier ballet companies.
A lifelong ballet enthusiast, Ruiz-Diaz de la Portilla began training at age three with Ballet Études of South Florida and continues to study ballet recreationally. Her personal connection to the art form brings a unique perspective to her new role on the Board.
Miami City Ballet Board Chair Jeff Davis commented on the recent trustee appointments, stating, "Trustees play a vital role in strengthening Miami City Ballet's future and ensuring the continued success of our national company, premier ballet school, and growing community engagement initiatives. Elinette brings unique expertise, deep connections to our community, and a passion for the arts that will help advance Miami City Ballet's mission. We are delighted to welcome her to the Board."
Ruiz-Diaz de la Portilla's appointment comes as Miami City Ballet celebrates its 40th Anniversary Season. Through its unwavering commitment to artistic excellence, world-class education, and community engagement programs that reach tens of thousands each year, MCB has profoundly enriched the cultural fabric of South Florida and beyond. As a firm deeply rooted in the communities it serves, Gunster is thrilled to see Elinette lend her talents and passion to an institution that has shaped the cultural landscape of South Florida for four decades.
Elinette Ruiz-Díaz de la Portilla is based in Gunster's Miami office, where she specializes in local government law, land use and zoning, and public procurement. Her work focuses on guiding clients through complex development approvals and public contracting matters. Prior to her legal career, she served in several distinguished public-sector roles, including positions in the Office of the Senior Advisor to the Miami-Dade County Mayor, the office of Congressman Lincoln Diaz-Balart in the U.S. House of Representatives, and an internship at the U.S. Department of State.
