Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, is pleased to announce that former Business Litigation shareholder Nathan W. Hill has been appointed as a United States Magistrate Judge for the Middle District of Florida, where he will serve an eight-year term. Hill’s appointment to the federal bench marks the first for the firm, in its centennial year.
Prior to his appointment, Hill co-led Gunster's White Collar Defense and Internal Investigations practice and served as vice-chair of the firm's Business Litigation practice. He was also recently appointed by the Florida Supreme Court to the Florida Board of Bar Examiners. Hill has extensive federal litigation experience as both a former Assistant United States Attorney and federal judicial clerk in Orlando. He began his legal career at Gunster as a summer associate in 2010 and returned to the firm in 2019 after his time at the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
“Nate is a first-rate lawyer. In every sense of the word, he embodies what it means to be a great litigator and is the hallmark of professionalism, so it was not a surprise to any of us when he was entrusted with this judicial honor,” said CEO and Managing Shareholder Bill Perry.
Hill’s investiture ceremony took place on Sept. 12, with many of his former Gunster colleagues in attendance, including Perry and Jonathan Osborne, who gave remarks.
