Press Release

Gunster Attorney Joseph NegronGunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, today announced that Joe Negron has rejoined the firm as a shareholder in its West Palm Beach office, further expanding the firm’s business litigation capabilities.

A skilled litigator and business adviser, Negron represents companies, executives, and boards in high-stakes commercial disputes involving significant financial exposure. His practice includes complex business litigation, healthcare and corporate law, construction and insurance disputes, and fiduciary duty claims involving corporate directors and officers.

Negron brings a unique combination of legal, government, and in-house leadership experience. Most recently, he served as general counsel, senior vice president and corporate secretary of The GEO Group, Inc., a publicly traded company with a global workforce of approximately 20,000 employees and an enterprise value exceeding $3.5 billion. Over the course of his tenure, he advised on legal, regulatory, and corporate governance matters, sharpening his ability to anticipate risk, partner with business leaders, and manage litigation with a focus on overall business strategy.

In addition to his legal career, Negron served as president of the Florida Senate from 2016 to 2018 and as a member of the Florida Senate from 2009 to 2018, following service in the Florida House of Representatives from 2000 to 2006. During his legislative tenure, he chaired both the House and Senate Appropriations Committees and played a leading role in shaping state fiscal policy and major legislative initiatives.

Negron’s government experience provides valuable insight into public policy, regulatory frameworks, and disputes involving governmental entities. He is known for his strategic approach to litigation, ability to distill complex issues into clear, persuasive arguments, and commitment to helping clients resolve disputes efficiently while protecting their business interests.

“Joe’s exceptional background across private practice, corporate leadership, and public service only deepens the insight he brings back to Gunster,” said Bill Perry, CEO and managing shareholder of Gunster. “His ability to navigate complex legal and regulatory challenges and deliver strategic, business-focused counsel strengthens our litigation bench and enhances the value we provide to our clients.”

Negron earned his B.A. from Stetson University, his J.D. from Emory University School of Law, and his M.P.A. from Harvard University.
