William HillJorge GuttmanGunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest business law firms, announced William Hill and Jorge Guttman joined the firm in its Miami office.  Hill, a business litigator, joins the firm as a shareholder and Guttman, also a litigator, as an associate.

Hill has been practicing business litigation in South Florida for nearly 25 years. He focuses his practice on complex litigation and arbitration and is Board Certified in Business Litigation by The Florida Bar.  He brings with him a wealth of experience in high-profile international litigation matters, such as having been lead counsel for the Republic of Chile in RICO actions based on former President Augusto Pinochet’s theft of government money.

His reputation in the realm of business litigation and alternative dispute resolution also extends throughout Florida and the U.S.  Locally, he is defending a $110 million foreclosure action involving a major Florida mall. He also successfully defended a crib manufacturer and national retail chain against federal consumer class action cases, involving the largest recall of cribs up to that time, and recently obtained a $14 million arbitration award involving a failed real estate development in the Florida Panhandle. His legal experience spans a variety of industries such as financial services, manufacturing, aviation, technology, retail and real estate.

Prior to joining Gunster, Hill was a partner with the law firm Bilzin Sumberg in Miami for 7 years, representing companies in disputes involving banking, securities, real estate, health care, class actions, commercial foreclosure, intellectual property and non-compete and trade secrets.

Hill is recognized as one of the top attorneys in the country and Florida in commercial litigation by Chambers USA; Best Lawyers in America; Super Lawyers; Florida Trend; and he is AV Rated with Martindale-Hubble. He has been listed as a ‘Local Litigation Star’ by Benchmark Litigation since 2009.  He received his J.D. from Yale Law School in 1987 and was admitted to The Florida Bar in 1988.

Guttman is a member of the American Bar Association, the Dade County Bar Association and the Cuban American Bar Association. He is also the Chair of the International Network for the Greater Miami Jewish Federation.  Prior to joining Gunster, Guttman worked alongside Hill at Bilzin Sumberg in Miami.  Guttman earned his J.D. from University of Miami School of Law in 2005 and his B.A. with honors at Eckerd College in 2000.
