WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (April 17, 2013) – Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, is pleased to announce that Simon Ferro has joined the firm as a shareholder in its Miami office.

Simon Ferro is a member of the firm’s environmental and land use practice and has more than 30 years experience in the areas of zoning, land use and governmental relations. He represents residential, commercial and industrial developers at all levels of the legal and administrative process necessary for successful real estate development. |
Ferro is a former U.S. ambassador to Panama and maintains strong ties in Latin America, where he regularly represents clients seeking business relationships and access to government procurement opportunities.
He was appointed by President Bill Clinton to lead the U.S. diplomatic mission in Panama during the historic hand over of the Panama Canal and numerous military installations to Panamanian control in 1999. He was also appointed by President Clinton to the Board of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC).
Ferro joins Gunster’s already robust real estate and land use team of attorneys. In the past two years, the firm grew its land use practice with the addition of attorneys from across the state with significant experience in eminent domain and property rights matters.
The honors Ferro has received include being designated Lawyer of the Year by the Latin Builders Association, included in Florida Super Lawyers, and he has an AV Preeminent rating by Martindale-Hubbell, an indicator of a lawyer’s high ethical standards and professional ability.
Ferro earned his J.D. from the University of Florida’s College of Law in 1978.
