WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (March 12, 2014) – Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, is pleased to announce that Mario Garcia-Serra joins the firm’s Miami office this week as a shareholder.

Mario Garcia-SerraMario Garcia-Serra joins Gunster’s environmental and land use law practice and will work out of the firm’s Miami office.

Garcia-Serra comes to the firm as a lateral hire from Greenberg Traurig in Miami, where he co-chaired its Miami Land Development & Zoning practice.

At Gunster, Garcia-Serra will focus his practice on land use and zoning law, and government affairs. He has a broad range of experience representing clients before local, regional, state and federal government boards and regulatory agencies.

He is a former member of the Latin Builders Association board of directors, the largest Hispanic construction association in the United States. He also sat on the board of directors for the Harvard Club of Miami and the Salvadoran American Humanitarian Foundation, and is a member of the Cuban American Bar Association as well as the American Bar Association.

Garcia-Serra received his J.D. from University of Miami’s School of Law in 2002, and his B.A. in government/political science from Harvard University in 1998. His article, “The demise of the separation of powers in Hugo Chavez’ Venezuela” was published in UM’s Inter-American Law Review in 2001. He has been honored by industry publications such as Chambers USA and Florida Super Lawyers.
