WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (July 15, 2014) – Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, is pleased to announce the recent addition of five new associates to the firm’s South Florida offices.

Darlene Barron has joined the firm’s Fort Lauderdale office; Jonathan Kaskel has joined the firm’s Miami office; and Jessica Shapiro, Jamison Evert and Holly Griffin have joined the firm’s West Palm Beach office.

Darlene Barron focuses her practice on business litigation, intellectual property litigation and probate litigation. She previously held positions at APEX Telecom Services Corp., Paetec Communications and AT&T/TCG. Barron received her J.D. from Nova Southeastern University in 2013, her M.B.A from Rutgers University in 1992 and her B.S. in ceramic engineering from Rutgers in 1991.

Jonathan Kaskel is an associate who joined the firm in 2014. At Gunster, he focuses on complex commercial litigation, appeals, real property litigation and white-collar defense. Kaskel serves as director of the Dade County Bar Association, and is a member of the American Bar Association and the Florida Bar Grievance Committee, 11th Circuit. He received his J.D. from the University of Florida in 2007 and his B.A. in economics and political science, also from the University of Florida, in 2004.

Jessica Shapiro joined the firm in 2014 and has prior experience with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. At Gunster, she focuses her practice on commercial real estate transactions and real estate development and finance. She received her J.D. from the University of Florida’s Levin College of Law in 2009 and her B.A. in architecture, history and theory and criticism from Yale University in 2006.

Jamison Evert rejoined the firm in 2014, previously serving as a staff attorney at Gunster in 2011. Evert returns to Gunster after serving as a solo practitioner in the fields of probate, trust, and guardianship litigation, and as an associate attorney at Downey & Downey P.A. from 2011 to 2013. In his current role at Gunster, Evert is an associate and focuses his practice on private wealth services. Evert received his J.D. from the University of Mississippi in 2010 and his B.A. in political science and Russian from the University of Florida in 2006.

Holly Griffin joined Gunster in 2014, and will focus her practice on labor and employment law. She comes to the firm from Panza, Maurer & Maynard in Fort Lauderdale, and has significant experience guiding employers on human resources matters, including development of policies and procedures, assisting in internal investigations, and providing advice and counsel in making disciplinary decisions. Griffin received her J.D. from Florida State College of Law, and her bachelor’s from the University of West Florida in 2008.
