WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (July 29, 2014) – Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, is pleased to announce that Jeffrey T. Shear has been elected to serve a one-year term on the board of directors of the Real Estate Investment Council (REIC) of Tampa Bay.
Originally formed in 1983, the REIC is an organization of Tampa Bay professionals who share a passion for commercial real estate. The nonprofit hosts dinners featuring prominent figures in commercial real estate as guest speakers.
Shear is a shareholder whose practice primarily involves the representation of developers and institutional investors in commercial and residential development and ownership through the entire spectrum of the development process, including land use, permitting, financing, and purchase and sale transactions. He has also represented numerous landlords and tenants in commercial lease preparation and negotiation.
He also has experience in various aspects of health care law, representing hospitals and hospital systems in regard to real estate transactions, real estate development, leasing and Stark and anti-kickback regulatory issues.
Shear is a former assistant city attorney for the city of Tampa.
