WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (January 7, 2014) – Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, is pleased to announce that Kevin Levy, a shareholder in its Miami office, has been named chair of the legal committee for eMerge Americas, coming to the Miami Beach Convention Center from May 2-6, 2014.

The Technology Foundation of the Americas hosts eMerge Americas, a large-scale technology conference for entrepreneurs, investors and thought leaders, which is designed to showcase startups and the latest trends in technology driving growth and innovation in North and South America. Topics will include cloud computing, cybersecurity, mobility and big data.

As chair of the eMerge Americas legal committee, attorney Kevin Levy will lead the group responsible for incorporating substantive legal considerations into the six summits featured at the 2014 event.

Levy is a business and corporate attorney at Gunster who provides strategic counseling for U.S. and foreign-based corporations, technology enterprises and entrepreneurial ventures.

He has devoted substantial time, expertise and mentorship in developing the South Florida startup and technology communities. Levy is former chair of the Florida Bar’s Computer & Technology Law Committee and former chair of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce’s Technology & Bioscience Committee. He advises clients on venture structuring and finance, corporate restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, technology transfers, software licensing, e-commerce enterprises, data security and breaches, product marketing and distribution, outsourcing transactions, and service agreements.

The five-day eMerge Americas 2014 event will include presentations, workshops, networking and a “hackathon,” in which the best hackers in Miami come together to participate in the PayPal Battle Hack competition. There will be six industry summits featured at the event: eMerge Cities, eMerge Entertain, eMerge Health, eMerge Innovate, eMerge Money and eMerge Smart.
