Nanotechnologies
Nanotechnology is unleashing revolutionary advances in medicine, food production, pollution control, military weapons, and consumer products. The development of nanomaterials which occurs at the molecular scale of one to 100 nanometers (a nanometer is 1/ one-billionth of a meter) results in materials behaving in different ways than they normally would. This different behavior presents new possibilities of damage to the human body and to the environment. Governmental regulation is just beginning to occur. Gunster’s attorneys provide advice and representation to clients who develop, use, or sell nanomaterials with respect to federal, state, and international regulatory trends and policies, including working with our clients to help develop an appropriate legislative and regulatory framework for the use of nanomaterials, and assistance in the formulation of product liability risk mitigation plans.
