Development Entitlements and Permitting

Gunster’s attorneys have obtained development entitlements for projects ranging from fast food restaurants and bank sites to planned unit developments (PUD), developments of regional impact (DRI), including annexations of properties into municipalities, and the creation of new cities.  Whether a single building, a planned community, a marina, or a mixed use development, we know how to navigate the government approval processes such as platting, site plan approvals, special exceptions, and variances.  In addition, Gunster has represented clients before historic and landmark designation boards, architectural review commissions, and boards of adjustment.  Gunster’s litigation team provides advice to help assure that development approvals will withstand the various legal challenges that so often come in today’s environment..  Once developments are in place, Gunster’s attorneys also work with our clients on matters related to code enforcement, having appeared before local government code enforcement staff, code enforcement boards and special masters, and state and federal courts.
