Florida Senate

Florida Senate President Don Gaetz released committee assignments yesterday. He indicated that each senator was offered an appointment as the chair or vice chair of a Senate committee.  See the full list of Senate committee assignments.

Notable Senate assignments include:

Senator Joe Negron (R-Stuart), Budget Chair
  Senator John Thrasher (R-St. Augustine), Rules Chair

Senator Negron will also lead the Senate’s Select Committee on the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, as the 11-member group works on Florida’s implementation of the federal Affordable Care Act.

In addition, there are five Democrats serving as chairs of committees: Senator Jeremy Ring will serve as the Chair of Governmental Oversight and Accountability; Senator Bill Montford as the Chair of Agriculture; Senator Eleanor Sobel as the Chair of Children, Families and Elder Affairs; Senator Joe Abruzzo as Chair of the Joint Committee on Legislative Auditing; and Senator Arthenia Joyner as Chair of the Joint Committee on Public Counsel Oversight.
