Eleven named “Legal Elite” and three named “Up & Coming Legal Elite”

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (June 27, 2008) — The statewide firm of Gunster Yoakley, P.A., is pleased to announce that fourteen attorneys from its Ft. Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Miami and West Palm Beach offices have been recognized as leaders in the legal profession by Florida Trend magazine. “Legal Elite” is a prestigious list of the top 1.8 percent of Florida Bar members as ranked by their legal peers. Legal Elite

David G. Bates is a shareholder in the West Palm Beach office and the co-chair of the firm’s Technology Practice Group and Emerging Company Practice Group. He concentrates his practice in the areas of buying and selling businesses, corporate transactions, technology and intellectual property law, and venture capital.

Michael Cavendish is a shareholder and litigation attorney in the Jacksonville office. He concentrates his practice in complex commercial litigation, including environmental liability and financial services litigation.

William E. Adams is a shareh older and litigation attorney in the Jacksonville office. He concentrates his practice in complex commercial litigation.

Gregory K. Bader is a shareholder and corporate attorney in the Ft. Lauderdale office. He concentrates his practice in mergers and acquisitions, banking law compliance, corporate finance and capital market transactions, consumer finance and mortgage lending law, SEC compliance, and corporate governance.

Kevin M. Levy is a shareholder and corporate attorney in the Miami office and is co-chair of both the Technology Practice Group and the Emerging Growth Companies Practice Group.  He counsels U.S. and internationally based clients on a broad range of business and technology matters, including corporate governance, distribution and licensing, international transactions, and technology law.

Mahesh H. Nanwani is a shareholder and corporate attorney in the Miami office. He concentrates his practice in corporate and securities law, mergers and acquisitions, and international law.

George LeMieux is chairman of the firm and is based in the Tallahassee office. He previously served as Chief of Staff to Governor Charlie Crist and former Deputy Attorney General for the State of Florida. LeMieux, who practiced in the firm’s Ft. Lauderdale office from 1994 to 2002, rejoined the firm in January 2008 as its chairman where he oversees operations, provides strategic advice and leads new business development. 

G. Joseph Curley is a shareholder and litigation attorney in the West Palm Beach office. He chairs the firm’s Employment Law Practice Group and concentrates his practice in employment litigation (defense representation), complex commercial litigation and franchise litigation.

John F. Mariani is a shareholder and litigation attorney in the West Palm Beach office. He concentrates his practice in complex commercial litigation, class action suits, antitrust and trade regulation, product liability defense, securities litigation, partnership disputes, and trademark and patent litigation.

Joseph G. Santoro is a shareholder and litigation attorney in the West Palm Beach office. He is the co-chair of the firm’s Labor and Employment Practice Group and concentrates his practice in labor and employment litigation and counseling.

Brian Seymour is a shareholder and litigation attorney whose statewide practice is based in the West Palm Beach office. He is chair of the firm’s Environmental and Land Use Practice Group and concentrates his practice in land use, environmental resource permitting and property rights litigation.  In addition, he handles commercial litigation matters.

Up & Coming Legal Elite

Michael S. Schimmel is a real estate attorney in the Ft. Lauderdale office. He concentrates his practice in commercial transactional real estate, having a comprehensive practice in general real estate development, acquisitions, sales, leasing and finance. Further, Schimmel has an LL.M in taxation and advises on real estate tax-related transactions.

David C. Scileppi is a corporate attorney in the Ft. Lauderdale office. He concentrates his practice on corporate formation and governance, mergers and acquisitions, and federal and state securities law. A CPA, Scileppi also regularly provides advice to financial services clients on lending and regulatory compliance.

Gaida Zirkelbach is a corporate attorney in the West Palm Beach office.
