The FAU “Business Leader of the Year” award has been a staple in the community since its inception in 1991. The award celebrates the accomplishments of Florida leaders and the impact on the business environment, according to the event’s website.
Gunster is proud to be a sponsor of this event, which honors the 2014 business year. The Business Leader of the Year 2014 award breakfast will be held on Feb. 20 this year from 8 a.m. – 10 a.m. at the Boca Raton Resort and Club. The event this year honors Jeffrey Stoops of SBA Communications Corporation.
Stoops has served as president and CEO of the company for more than 10 years and is involved in the community through St. Andrew’s School, Boca Raton, the Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts and the Honda Classic Tournament.
The selection criteria for the award looks at leadership qualities, wisdom and courage. Some of the sponsorship money, from sponsors like Gunster, will be allocated to the Business Leaders Scholars Program at Florida Atlantic University. The award helps fund the education of students at FAU who have demonstrated leadership qualities through service and are enrolled in the business school, along with other criteria.
