The 2014 Democracy in the Americas Symposium (DITAS) will be held Nov. 6 and 7 at Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus.

The symposium is a unique opportunity to engage key leaders, experts and attendees from around the world to participate in dialogues relating to democracy with a focus on economic development, education and sustainability. The event is presented by the Zambrano Foundation, a nonprofit founded in 2012 to educate, train and mentor the next generation of American leaders – with the aim of developing and promoting social and educational programs where disenfranchised societies can strengthen democracy, economic development and equality.

Gunster chair George S. LeMieux will offer special remarks at the event on Friday afternoon. In his law practice, LeMieux works to resolve business and governmental disputes, and advises C-level executives on business, law and politics from a state and national perspective. He is a former U.S. Senator and is actively involved in The LeMieux Center for Public Policy at Palm Beach Atlantic University.
