Initiative to Encourage Women and Minorities to Explore Securities Law is a Success
by Gunster Updates - Posted In: Business Litigation, Securities and Corporate Governance
Practising Law Institute (PLI) held its 43rd Annual Institute on Securities Regulation on November 9-11 in New York City at the Hilton New York Hotel. This year, Gunster sponsored a scholarship initiative for minority law students in conjunction with PLI and the Yale Law School Center for the Study of Corporate Law.
Twenty scholarships were awarded to minority students from local New York City area law schools to attend this comprehensive three-day Institute. The initiative, called “Changing Faces: Creating a Difference in Securities Law”, began with Chief Justice Myron Steele of the Delaware Supreme Court, and developed by Gunster securities litigation attorneys Curtis Alva and Linda Conahan. The goal is to partner students with Institute faculty to expose minority law students to corporate and securities law and to network with practicing attorneys.
